Providence High School wants to be proactive in making sure that our students and their families have transportation options. School begins promptly at 8:00 am each morning, with a warning bell at 7:55 am. We require our students to be in their first class, seated and ready to go, by that 8:00 am bell. Many families drop their children off and pick them up at PHS on a daily basis. But, some families’ morning and afternoon schedules make this difficult to do. We want to try to help make it easier for our students to arrive on time, ready to start class. To that end, we want to make the following transportation options known to you: A Quick Note on School-Provided Transportation
Last school year, Providence surveyed parents at all grade levels regarding transportation options. Unfortunately, there was not enough parent interest to create a sustainable program. Therefore, Providence will not be able to provide bus or vanpool service.Public Transportation
For some families, public transportation is a good option. There are stops very close to PHS’ campus—we are located adjacent to both Disney Studios and Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. Both are major destinations for working people. The City of Burbank, the MTA and other transportation authorities have created infrastructure and developed routes to facilitate those workers’ travels. Your child can benefit from this already available transportation. If you choose this option, you can plan your child’s trip to and from PHS utilizing the MTA’s trip planner at https://trips.metro.net/tm_pub_start.php.
There you can specify whether you wish to utilize bus service exclusively, or a combination of bus and light rail. Student fares are as low as $24 for a 30-day period. You can visit https://www.metro.net/riding/fares/

Some families may wish to “team up” and rideshare to and/or from Providence instead of utilizing public transport. To facilitate ridesharing opportunities as much as possible, Providence maps out all Providence families’ addresses in order to determine families’ proximity to each other and has devised a procedure to assist families in making contact with one another. Once a request form is submitted, Providence will send a BCC email request to all families within an approximate three-mile radius of the requesting family’s home address. Solutions cannot always be guaranteed, but we at PHS will do our very best to provide some sort of resolution to transportation concerns. Here’s how it works:Step 1:

The Transportation Coordinator then uses the map below to determine which members of the PHS community live in closest proximity to you.
Those families within a reasonable proximity of your residence are contacted via Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) Email—so that everyone’s privacy is properly protected—with the specifics of your rideshare request. These families are encouraged to contact you directly via email or phone to make ridesharing arrangements.Step 4:
After a few days, the Transportation Coordinator proactively follows up to see if contacts and/or arrangements were made. If nothing came out of the first attempt, more outreach can be undertaken to additional families in an even wider proximity.
Providence cannot guarantee results, but we are happy to report that many of our efforts in this fledgling program have been successful this year.**Please note: Providence High School cannot take responsibility for providing any day-to-day school-related transportation—except where it is explicitly included within the context of a specific co-curricular or extracurricular program or pursuit.
