The philosophy of the Counseling Department at Providence High School is based on a personal approach. We begin our work with the belief that all of our students are "essentially good and infinitely loveable. Each student is deserving of our full respect and likewise, each student is asked to respect other students and the faculty and staff of PHS.
Academic Counseling: Our goal is to enable each student to recognize and develop to their full potential. Formal assessment through standardized testing as well as grade review and teacher input will contribute to each student's profile.
College Counseling: Starting in freshman year, students will develop their portfolio that will follow them for all four years at PHS and be used as a tool for the college application process. They will learn to set academic and personal goals to achieve a successful high school experience.
Personal Counseling: Our goal for personal counseling is seen as short-term intervention. The focus is to help students overcome any emotional or developmental roadblocks that may get in the way of this success.
Where do you want to go? COLLEGE! How are you going to get there? By following the PIONEER PATH TO COLLEGE! The Providence College Counseling Department has mapped out a four-year route to reach that ultimate destination COLLEGE! What does the Pioneer Path to College include? Take a look
