Admissions
At Providence, we are proud to offer a challenging and diverse academic curriculum along with extensive programming in the visual and performing arts, athletics, campus ministry, and four-year focus programs in cinema arts, medical, and technology. High school is a time to deepen existing passions and skills while exploring new interests and growing as a student and human being. Our Providence Pioneers are encouraged and expected to be active and engaged students, taking advantage of the many opportunities to learn and grow within a close-knit, supportive community. A Providence education doesn’t just prepare students for college; it prepares them for life. We seek to educate creative, compassionate, academically prepared human beings who will go out into the world, seeking to make it a better place.
Our Virtual Open House, which will be available for the next few months, is a resource to help you to explore Providence further and to get to know our extraordinary faculty and staff. Included on the page are videos from each department. Faculty and staff were encouraged to share their departmental philosophies, course offerings, and personalities, giving you a better sense of who they are as educators and people.
We are committed to an admissions process that helps us get to know you and your family while also allowing you to learn more about our community, programs, faculty, and students. Building a relationship with you is our top priority. Whether you have attended a prior Providence event or if this your first visit to our site—please know that we are so grateful for the opportunity to get to know you and to show you Providence.

Entrance Exams Not Required or Accepted
Everything we do at Providence springs from our mission and values. Our work with prospective families must be no different. With this in mind, we have made the permanent decision to no longer accept HSPT, ISEE, or any other entrance exam scores as part of the Providence High School admissions process.
Providence High School offers three unique four-year programs in the fields of Cinema Arts, the Medicine & Health Care, and Technology. Students within these programs will take specialized classes focused on preparing them for the future studies or a career in the related field.
Cinema Arts
The Cinema Arts Focus Program explores the influence that narrative has in media through an in-depth hands-on curriculum that aims to empower students to tell great stories that emotionally impact their audiences. Encompassing all aspects of professional filmmaking, students gain access to media careers through real-life participation in meaningful projects.
Medical
As a Ministry of Providence St. Joseph Health, our Medical Focus Program students have a unique opportunity to learn with and from experts and professionals in diverse fields of health care. Our four-year program covers topics from health care, medicine, and biotechnology to understand health care and its implications within the religious, political, economic, and social areas.
Technology
The Technology Focus Program offers a wide variety of experimental learning under the umbrella of Information Science and Technology. This four-year program exposes students to Computer Science principles and fundamentals, robotics, programming languages, technological integration and much more. By the end of the program, students will be prepared for a future in the expanding field of technology.

After careful consideration, PHS will no longer grant honors placement to students during the application process. There have been discussions on this topic over the years at Providence, but in light of our recent, permanent decision to no longer accept entrance exam scores, it was the ideal time to reevaluate this practice and more closely align with best practices in independent schools.
Our Counseling Department offers unparalleled individualized guidance in academic and personal matters. Academic Counselors follow students from freshman through junior year. Then in 12th grade, seniors have the full attention of the Director of College Counseling to walk them through college applications, financial aid, making final decisions, academic consistency, celebrating their college choice, and then navigating the transition from high school to college. With a Personal Counselor on staff for short-term crisis intervention and support as well, our students receive personalized, high quality guidance in achieving academic success and overall well-being.

The Mission of Providence High School invites each of us to be “expressions of God’s healing love” to one another, as well as to both the local and global community. Campus Ministry participates in that invitation by providing direction and guidance to all religious programs and activities of the Providence community. These programs encourage growth in relationships with God and others through liturgies, retreats, service, faith and leadership formation. By drawing on the legacy of the Sisters of Providence, “we are steadfast in serving all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.” Campus Ministry involves the entire community: faculty, staff, students and their families.
All members of the Providence community, regardless of faith tradition, are invited to participate in the spiritual life of the school.

The Associated Student Body (ASB) plays an integral part in the students’ high school experience. Providing an opportunity to develop the student’s social abilities through school-centered activities, ASB advances school spirit and identity, not only in extracurricular events but also within the Burbank Community.
Technology Focus Center
In 2017, the Technology Focus Program received a major upgrade with the complete remodeling of the classroom lab and makerspace. Construction of the new space involved combining two previous classrooms into a new modern computer lab and makerspace with a garage to accommodate larger projects. The lab and makerspace are now equipped with the following equipment:

Cinema Arts Center
Providence Cinema Arts Focus Program is led by industry professionals. Cinema Arts Students work year round in a production studio, as well as on location at film shoots. Cinema Arts Focus Program students learn everything from writing, to filming, to post production in their unique classroom enviroment complete with:
Student Activity Center
Our Student Activity Center is the indoor space where the entire Providence community can gather. Within its wall, there is our beautiful gym, our weight room, and our athletic training facility. Naturally, our indoor sports teams, basketball and volleyball, hold practices and games there, but every Pioneer can take advantage of this wonderful communal space as it's a place where community happens:
