Providence High School

Academic Counseling

Our goal is to enable students to discover what inspires them and to develop their skills and talents. Providence High School's minimum graduation requirements EXCEED the admissions requirements for the University of California, California State University, and most private colleges and universities.
Academic Advisement:
Providence High School offers many tools and resources to help students achieve academic success. Academic Advisors are assigned to each grade level and work with students individually to explore their educational goals. Our small school environment and our low student to advisor ratio are instrumental in providing the time necessary for advisors to aid students with course selection, academic guidance, and college and career planning.
College Counseling:
The philosophy of our college counseling program is to ensure that students find the college or university that best fits their needs. College planning begins in Freshman year by exploring colleges and universities. Students and parents work together with their Academic Advisor to set college goals. Through career assessments and college major exploration in Naviance, students begin to explore career opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to meet with college representatives, attend college tours and prep for college entrance exams on campus. Through personalized meetings with their advisor, students review their application profile to ensure success in the competitive college admissions process.
Personal Counseling:
Our goal for personal counseling is seen as a short-term intervention. The focus is to help students overcome any emotional or developmental roadblocks that may get in the way of their success & happiness.
