Mr. James Jimenez was born in Quezon City, Philippines. He attended Don Bosco Technical Institute for first and second grade and when he moved to California he attended St. Francis of Assisi parish school. Mr. Jimenez then attended Providence High School, where he was a member of the varsity basketball and volleyball teams, as well as the Associated Student Body. During his senior year, the Student Activity Center was unveiled and his volleyball team was the first team to ever play in it. He graduated in 2002 with his current PHS colleagues, Mr. Robert Parmele, Mr. Greg Castro and Mrs. Allison Castro. He earned his B.A. in World History from California State University, Los Angeles.

Mr. Jimenez proudly started his teaching career at Providence in 2007-08. With Mrs. Claire Hickey as his mentor, he taught the Hebrew Scriptures course for Freshmen. In 2009, he stepped away from the classroom but eventually returned to Providence in 2013. He was selected to be the Religious Studies Department Chair in 2018.

Mr. Jimenez began his coaching career at Providence in 2003 when he was hired to coach the freshmen/sophomore boys’ basketball team. He then happily accepted the role of head coach for the Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Volleyball programs in 2005. In the spring of 2006, his boys squad earned a spot in the CIF-SS semi-finals. Later that year, his girls’ squad won the Liberty League title and also advanced to the CIF-SS semi-finals. He currently leads the girls volleyball program.

In 2017, his girls varsity team made history by reaching the CIF-SS semi-finals for the second time in program history. And they made their first trip ever to the CIF State tournament.

Mr. Jimenez was named Coach of the Year by the Burbank Leader for his team's efforts. Mr. Jimenez, a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fanatic and avid gamer, is happily married to Lauren Jimenez, a graduate of John Burroughs High School. They have two sons, Jacob Alexander and Grayson Parker.
