Mando Contreras completed his Bachelor's Degree in Science - Kinesiology from California State University of Northridge in '07. Before his completion of his Bachelor's Degree at CSUN, he completed 60 units at Pierce College, and 50 units at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. At William Penn University, he competed in the NCAA - Division II Baseball Conference and after that played Independent baseball in Omaha, Nebraska.
Also known as Coach Contreras at Providence, he began his coaching career in 2003 at Cleveland High School in Reseda, California while he was completing his undergraduate work in college. When Coach finished his undergraduate studies in Iowa in 2006, he began his college coaching career at Los Angeles Mission College for seven years and two years at Crespi High School in Encino, CA. Coach Contreras finished his Masters in Arts - Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University in 2012 and began teaching part-time at California State University of Northridge (CSUN) under the Kinesiology department. He taught as an Adjunct Faculty member at CSUN and was the Athletics Director for the Los Angeles Archdioceses at St. Bernardine of Siena for six years.
Coach Contreras has been a part of the Providence family for three years and is the head baseball coach and full-time teacher. He resides in Reseda, CA with his lovely family of three kids: Adrian, Isaiah, Jocelyn, and wife Carolina. Coach is a huge Dodgers fan.
