Launching a Pioneer Mascot Search

Launching a Pioneer Mascot Search

Dear Providence High School Community,

As part of yearlong 70th Anniversary celebrations, we’re excited to announce the launch of a search for the new PHS Pioneer Mascot! As we continue to celebrate our proud tradition as the Pioneers, we invite students, alumni, parents, guardians, faculty, staff, and friends of Providence to help us imagine what a Pioneer looks like!

A Brief History
Since the school’s early beginnings in 1955, Providence High School has honored the Pioneer spirit, which has been rooted in the heritage of the Sisters of Providence, and manifested visually through various mascots and symbols. Our earliest imagery featured the Pioneer Covered Wagon, and for a time, a “Davey Crockett”-style Pioneer. In the early 2000s, after the Student Activity Center was built, the wild west imagery faded from campus. Today, our Pioneer identity, while still rooted in the legacy of the Sisters of Providence, needs a fresh new look.

Why does a mascot matter?
Mascots are more than symbols—they unite us, inspire school spirit, and reflect our shared values. Now, we want your input to help shape the next chapter of our Pioneer story.

How can you participate?

  • Submit Your Mascot Suggestions: Share your mascot suggestions by submitting to our Mascot Submission Survey by October 31, when the first round of our process closes. Take the Pioneer Mascot Suggestion Survey.

  • Vote and stay involved: Be sure to vote, share your voice, and remain engaged in the design process. There will be a total of three voting rounds where our community will help shape and design our mascot with emails sharing when surveys open and close.

  • Join our Pioneer Mascot Insiders: Stay informed between each round of voting by joining the Pioneer Mascot Insiders email list for regular updates from the Pioneer Mascot committee. Sign up for the Pioneer Mascot Insiders email list.
