Winter Athletics Recap #3

Winter Athletics Recap #3

Boys Basketball - Postseason Recap

On February 11, our boys' basketball team faces mater Dei in the first round of CIF Playoffs. The matchup proved challenging from the opening tip. Mater Dei took control early, leading 25–16 after the first quarter and maintaining separation throughout. Providence showed resilience with a strong third quarter (23 points), but Mater Dei’s balance and physicality ultimately decided the game.

The defeat ended Providence’s season at 20–8.

Boys Soccer – Postseason Recap

The Providence Pioneers concluded their 2025–26 winter boys soccer season with a competitive slate of postseason‑adjacent matchups, highlighted by close contests and narrow scorelines. While MaxPreps does not list a formal CIF playoff bracket for Providence, their late‑season and February results provide a clear picture of how their postseason stretch unfolded.

Providence entered February with strong momentum, earning a 5–4 win over the International School of Los Angeles on February 4.

This victory showcased the Pioneers’ ability to finish in high‑scoring battles and hinted at their potential for a deeper postseason push.

One week later, the team traveled to face Lucerne Valley on February 12, earning a hard‑fought 2–1 victory, giving Providence another crucial win in their postseason stretch.

On February 13, Providence hosted San Jacinto Leadership Academy, falling 1–2 in a tightly contested match that put an end to one of the best seasons in Providence boys' soccer history.  The Pioneers’ showed excellent competitive effort despite coming up short.
