Let’s Talk About Parent Service Hours...

It has come to our attention that there is some confusion between Parent Service Hours and Christian Service Hours. The Parent Service Hour Program is not the same as the Christian Service Hour Program for students. Each respective program has its own set of criteria, policies, rules, and opportunities for what counts and who can participate to earn hours, and they are in no way connected in any shape or form.

  • Parent service hours are earned by parents participating either through volunteering at, or donating to, events or activities which are hosted by Providence High School for the benefit of our Providence community, not at an organization outside of PHS. This program was implemented several years ago to replace mandatory fundraising, such as magazine sales, candy sales, and gift wrap. Parents can find available opportunities at Sign-Up Genius.

General information regarding the Parent Service Hours can be found on the Parent Service Hours page under the Parent Hub.

  • Christian Service Hours are earned by students by giving their time and talents to service projects throughout their high school career. Activities are approved by the Christian Service Coordinator, Ms. Fontaine, and Providence High School. Parents are welcome to attend but will not receive parent hours. General information regarding the Christian Service Hours can be found on the Service page under the Faith tab.

Thank you to all who give of their service in living out the mission of the Sisters of Providence.
