B.A. English Literature, Cal State University Northridge
Karissa Caperina grew up in Echo Park and Eagle Rock, two eastside neighborhoods of Los Angeles. She graduated from Providence High School in 2006. Afterward, she received her bachelor’s degree in English from Cal State University Northridge.
Following graduation, she worked at an assortment of odd jobs. She processed business taxes and alarm permits at the City of Los Angeles’s Office of Finance and led tours as a docent at the Los Angeles Zoo. At this point, Karissa missed school and so, she returned to Cal State University Northridge to pursue a Master’s Degree in English. There, she worked on research projects that focused on Children’s Literature and she taught English Composition & Rhetoric. Her time management lesson was legendary. She received a resounding slow-clap from exactly one student.
After graduating from Northridge, she worked at the libraries of both Immaculate Heart High School and Providence High School. Karissa used to work at Barnes and Noble, but now works solely at Providence as the Library Assistant and an English Teacher. She clearly cannot get away from the books. She must have all the books.
