M.A. Education (in progress), University of Phoenix
B.A. English, California State University Northridge
Ms. Marisa Paolone, or Ms. P, grew up in Burbank, California. She attended St. Robert Bellarmine Parish School for grades kindergarten through 8th. She then moved on to our very own Providence High School. All four years at Providence, Ms. P engaged in one of her lifelong passions, volleyball, and played on the Varsity Volleyball team all four years. She still plays in her semi-pro league. It was also at Providence that she discovered her three other loves in life; Literature, Languages, and Mathematics. Aside from Italian being her first language, as a student at PHS she studied Spanish, French, and German, simultaneously. For the past four years, she has studied Armenian.
Ms. Paolone always knew that teaching would be her future. After graduating from Providence in 1996, she went on to earn her B.A. in English from Cal State Northridge, focusing on a Mathematics minor. She then went on to attend the University of Phoenix, enrolling in the Masters in Education program. After a fantastic experience teaching in East Los Angeles for four years - Freshmen, Junior and Senior English, as well as Algebra I, Algebra II/Trig and Pre-Calculus and coaching volleyball, Ms. P felt passionate about returning to her Alma mater, the place that made her high school experience so extraordinary and wonderful.
In 2005, she returned to teach English and Mathematics at Providence. Ms. Paolone feels grateful every day to have a job that is truly, a second home. She knows that if she attended high school elsewhere, she would have still been a good student but it was Providence that made her high school experience nothing short of perfect.
In her spare time, she enjoys, writing, reading, concerts, walking, traveling, roller skating, Egyptian and Roman History, food events, and hot air ballooning. Her favorite state is New Mexico. She is an avid foodie and enjoys trying foods from all cultures. She has traveled all around the world but still is not finished. She is a serious fan of I Love Lucy and Edgar Allan Poe. Since junior high, her favorite music artist has been Stevie Nicks. She loves working closely with students and parents, to discover the incredible high school experience that Providence offers. She wants her students to not only love numbers, as well as words and writing, she also wants them to have the same awesome high school experience she had.
