Dr. Susan Selvin was born in Beaverton, Oregon--a suburb of Portland--and attended college at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. After receiving her B.A. from Willamette, she went on to earn a Masters degree from the University of Washington and a Ph.D in French Language and Literature from UCLA. Dr. Selvin taught all levels of French at The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks for fifteen years. While at Buckley, she also had the opportunity to develop courses in French cinema and cuisine, subjects about which she remains passionate and which inform her teaching at all levels. After leaving Buckley in 2015, Dr. Selvin lived for a time in New York and taught at Green's Farms Academy in Westport, Connecticut.Dr. Selvin teaches French 1, 2, 3H and 4H.
Outside of school, Dr. Selvin loves to travel and, particularly, to visit New York City where she can spend time with her two daughters and explore the city's museum and theater offerings. Closer to home, she volunteers as a writing and career coach at the Posse Foundation and enjoys running, reading and relaxing with her cat, Eliot, who is a master of the art.
