Focus Program Workshops

Providence Focus Programs are excited to invite the incoming 9th grade Focus Program students to a multi-day optional enrichment workshops! This experience is a preview of the skills and content that all incoming freshman Focus Program students will cover in their foundational year of their Focus Programs. In addition, the students will have the opportunity to meet other students in their respective Focus Program, form new friendships, orient themselves to the campus, and meet many of the school’s faculty and staff.

Cinema Arts

Mon. July 29 - Thu. August 1
9:00am - 3:00pm
Providence Cinema Arts Center

  • Operate department technology, cameras, tripods, boom poles and microphones, audio-visual editing programs & the network filing system
  • Learn visual film vocabulary and editing technique
  • Plan, shoot and edit several short videos intended to put into practice their newly acquired filmmaking skill set during their freshman year in Cinema Arts
  • Devise shot lists for visual storytelling & select images to creating tone and theme
  • Establish working relationships with their new classmates & teachers
  • Complete at least three short video projects

Providence Science Center

  • Engage in a Q&A session with Providence St. Joseph Medical Center's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kelly Linden.
  • Tour Providence St. Joseph Medical Center & learn about the heritage of the Sisters of Providence
  • Review the scope & sequence of the Med Focus 4-year curriculum & our unique internship program
  • Create & participate in case study scenarios to learn basic skill-sets essential to health care
  • Study the body's major systems
  • Learn how to use medical instruments (oximeter, stethoscope, sphygmomanometer, etc.)
  • Receive basic training in CPR & First Aid

Providence Tech Focus Lab

  • Explore and operate the technologies that they’ll learn in-depth throughout the program
  • Learn how the code editor works for Micro-Bit
  • Program Micro-Bits to perform a variety of tasks
  • Establish working relationships with their new classmates & teachers
Please Note: The Focus Program Workshops are available only to incoming 9th graders enrolled in the respective focus program.

Providence High School believes that a uniform and dress code provides a fair and equitable, justice based environment conducive to the academic and social growth of its students. At all times, whether in or out of uniform, Providence students are to emphasize good taste, neatness, cleanliness, modesty and safety. Clothing is not to be torn, shredded or sloppy. Respect for self and others is paramount.

Dennis Uniforms is the only authorized uniform provider for Providence High School. Clothing purchased from other vendors is considered “out of uniform”.
