Summer at Providence

Providence Summer School is open to students currently enrolled at PHS or registered to attend PHS in the fall semester. It is also open to students of other schools who are in good behavior standing. All credit courses are UC approved and meet the A-G requirements set by the UC system.

There are no uniforms required for Summer Session. However, all students must wear shoes that cover the toes, no sandals or flip-flops are allowed. In addition, all students must wear shirts that fully cover the stomach and midriff area. Sleeveless tops are not permitted. Clothing that has slogans or graphics that depict/promote drug use, alcohol or tobacco or contain profanity or hate speech are not permitted. Students found in violation of this code will be sent home and an absence will be charged to their record that counts toward the maximum of three absences permitted.

There are two sessions each day. The first runs from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and the second from 12:00PM to 2:00PM. Most classes are just 2 hours daily. The exact schedule for each class is noted in the course description.

No, students are expected to bring their own snacks and  lunch to the camp or classes. Lunch is between 11am-12pm. 

Yes. At Providence, required academics take priority over sports. The Athletic Department works with our Summer Programs Director to schedule sports in such a way as to not interfere with other classes. Occasionally there may be a conflict. In such cases the student may have to miss that session's practice.

All students are expected to model our values: Compassion, Dignity, Justice, Excellence, Integrity. Any use or possession of drugs, alcohol, tobacco or any act of violence or intimidation committed against another student, faculty member or staff member will result in immediate disciplinary action up to and including expulsion. In such a case there would be no refund of fees paid. Also, please keep in mind that there is no eating or drinking (water excepted) in any of the classrooms and gum chewing is never permitted on school grounds.

We hold the same standards of behavior for all students enrolled in Summer Programs that we do for students during the school year, which are grounded in our values of Dignity, Justice, Integrity, Compassion, & Excellence. To that end, please familiarize yourself with the code of conduct. In registering your child for Providence High School's Summer Programs, you acknowledge your understanding that your child will be held to these expectations while on campus.

Attendance is important. Summer Courses are both condensed and accelerated. As a result, a maximum of two absences is permitted. Enrichment classes may be granted an exception from this rule with prior permission from both the instructor and the Summer Director. Absence beyond two days, for any reason, will result in zero credit being awarded for the class(s). Being on time is equally important. Three tardies equal one absence. A tardy beyond the first fifteen minutes of class is counted as an absence.

If your child is unable to attend Summer Programs at Providence, please contact the Director of Summer Programs to inquire if a refund of course tuition is possible. Please allow up to two weeks for any refund to appear on your bank statement.

Providence cannot accept cash as payment for Summer Programs. All payments must be via credit card/debit card through the website.

Classes are all dependent upon minimum enrollment. Providence reserves the right to cancel any class without notice. In such a case, a complete and full refund will be made to your credit or debit card.
