Important Information on Required Vaccination

Providence Community,

The surge of the highly transmissible Delta variant throughout Los Angeles County morally requires Providence High School to take all reasonable steps to protect the health of our community, support the heroic work of our colleagues throughout the Providence health system, and preserve our ability to safely bring every student and employee onto campus each day.

Therefore, all Providence High School employees and students are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 25, 2021. Thank you to all those who have already submitted proof of vaccination. As of September 3, 100% of our faculty and support staff and 79% of eligible students have received one or more doses of the vaccine. Anyone unvaccinated or partially vaccinated must submit proof of receiving the first dose of vaccine through our Immunization Record Upload Form by September 13. Proof of full vaccination must be submitted by October 25

Any employee or student who does not submit proof of vaccination or have an approved vaccine exemption by October 25 will not be allowed to work or participate in on-campus classroom instruction or school-sponsored activities/events. Please note that Providence High School no longer offers an option for remote learning and absences due to non-compliance with this policy will be considered unexcused. Exemptions from this policy may be approved for medical or religious purposes upon review by an advisory committee. Personal preference is not considered to be a religious belief that would qualify an individual for the exemption. Families wishing to seek an exemption from Providence High School’s vaccine requirement must complete a Vaccine Exemption Request Form for each child by September 8. The Vaccine Exemption Request Form will close promptly on September 8 at 5:00pm.

Families are encouraged to visit the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health website or the City of Los Angeles website for information on local COVID-19 vaccine clinics, hours, and appointment times. Weekly on-campus COVID-testing will continue to be an available resource for students, faculty, and staff until further notice. Any changes to our surveillance testing or other viral mitigation protocols in our Safe Return Plan will be communicated via the Weekly Bulletin. A Frequently Asked Questions page has been created on our website to provide families with additional information to address any questions and concerns you may have. 

COVID-19 vaccines are widely available in Los Angeles County and have proven to be safe and effective against COVID-19. Our Vaccine Requirement Policy prioritizes and protects the health and safety of our community members, especially the most vulnerable, and enables us to provide on-campus instruction and activities with confidence.
